This week I have started a new painting ‘The Connection’. It is a pause in the journey where two people start to really ‘see’ each other and join on an emotional (even spiritual) and finally physical level.
Connection is at the heart of everything we do as humans…we were born to connect and belong, not only to each other, but in communities just as animals do in nature, but also within our environments. We are small elements of a larger force and realising and utilising this can only make our lives richer and more fulfilling.
Of course this is made easier when we are in a happy place in our lives...when we feel safe to be who we really are, without pretence and without having to wear a mask. When we do build the courage to express our true nature in what we do in life, our aura or energy field expands, and we become even stronger conduits for connection and ultimately life prosperity.
I am so grateful to be practising my art at a stage in my life where I have less fear about who I really am and now feel able to share that part of me with people. For so long I tried to be something that I am not – it is ironic how so many of us resist what actually comes naturally to us, what makes us feel good, and instead of embracing it and using it in our job or vocation we hide it away. For me, like many I felt I needed to fit into society and the expectations of those around me. I always stood out for my ability in art at School but because academics were revered I never really felt I should pursue my love of art. Instead I strove to fit in the business world, with a job that would sound ok!
I remember someone saying to me once… “Do what your life’s love is and then you will be successful”. So here is to hoping!
Of course it’s not just down to me taking the plunge to follow this truth. I also need the help and guidance of those close to me. I am so grateful to have so many wonderful friends and an amazingly supportive partner who holds my hand in this new adventure.
Yesterday I was reminded of how new found connections are enriching and nourishing my Exhibition. I have developed a connection with people working at Niche framing. As my relationship grows with them I benefit from their wisdom, advice and insights in how to develop my work and for this I am very grateful. What can be better than to continuously grow and learn in life? To listen to the wealth of knowledge surrounding you so you can reach beyond your potential!
So this blog is written in gratitude to Victoria, Joseph, Hannah, Rupert and Tim at Niche Framing. Thank you for connecting with me and allowing me to feed from your continued support and inspiration. Sonya.
